Award-winning charity Covid Aid has launched its ‘Covid Aid Support Community’ dedicated app on the Apple and Google app stores for mobile devices, a global first in allowing those with Long Covid to access a range of weekly live classes, courses, and support on their phone or tablet – all for free.
Launched in late 2021, the Covid Aid Support Community has almost 2000 members on its platform and acts as a safe space away from the more toxic elements of online disinformation and harmful misinformation about the coronavirus pandemic, with resources co-designed and developed by its members.
In January Covid Aid won “Best New Community” at the CMX Global Community Industry Awards 2023, beating other shortlisted entries including Adobe. With more than two million people in the UK living with Long Covid, the charity continues to deliver new courses and sessions to support those affected by Long Covid and other related issues.
Led by its members, Covid Aid is an innovative and fully-inclusive online community where anyone can access support and expert advice for however long they need it. So far, the charity has helped reached more than 335,000 people from all over the UK through our website hub, and we will continue to advocate for anyone adversely affected by Long Covid and through the devastating effects of Covid-19, with families still coping with the loss of loved ones.
Now, thanks to funding provided through the Scottish Government’s Long Covid Support Fund, the Support Community will be easily accessible on Apple and Google Android mobile devices.
Michael MacLennan, Covid Aid founder and Chair, said: “Covid Aid from its launch has been an innovative charity which aims to place its community at the core, so we are all hugely excited to be launching a world first with the Covid Aid Support Community app.
“Across the next few months we have a variety of fantastic live events taking place which are free to sign up to for anyone affected by Long Covid, including dedicated NHS and Teacher peer support, chair yoga, craft, drawing, singing, group support and wind-down sessions, and a whole lot more.”
