My Covid-19 Grief
The impact of Covid-19 on my family was immediate and tragic when I lost both of my parents to Covid in March and April 2020. They died unexpectedly during the first lockdown, three weeks apart, leaving my brother and I to grieve alone.
The grieving process was brutally challenging and I experienced crippling Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result. Thankfully however, my local coaching community supported me and helped me to heal.
Once I was strong enough to move forward, I began to deploy the skills I had learned through coaching to rebuild my resilience and transform the negative energy of my trauma into something positive.
Advocacy
It was at this point I decided to write my first book, Transforming Grief – From Tragedy Emerges Hope, which I published in November 2021. As well as being a significant part of my own healing process, the book now helps many more people experiencing traumatic grief by providing them with the necessary tools to help navigate their own grief journeys.
I have also started hosting grief recovery workshops to help those who feel stuck in their grief, as well as one-to-one coaching sessions.
Those of us who have lost loved ones to Covid have been overlooked and it concerns me that there are so many bereaved families suffering in silence. I am committed to helping create and build a support network for families across the UK who are struggling to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones. I feel that a community like covid:aid is the perfect environment to cultivate such support.
I am thrilled to be joining covid:aid as a Charity Ambassador and am looking forward to working collaboratively with the team to support those people who continue to struggle with the impact of Covid-19.
